January

As we near the holiday I want to acknowledge some of the many things that have been happening over the past few weeks.

  • The GREEN team won the first semester house trophy.
  • There were many School Without Walls and field trips and there are many more to come.
  • We celebrated Arabic family day.
  • A professional drummer visited the school and the students got to follow rhythms and have a lot of fun.
  • KG students enjoyed their materials day and have had fun being young scientists.
After the holiday, students from Grade 3-5 will be involved in our annual ISA testing.

Have a safe relaxing holiday.

November

Another busy month has passed at QA.

We recently enjoyed Family Maths Day.

Students in Grade 4 have been taking Action and raising awareness as well as collecting donations for those affected by Typhoon Haiyan.

We had fantastic contributions from parents during our annual Bake Sale and managed to raise over 8,000Qr.

Students are now very familiar with their 'House' teams and have recently enjoyed auditions for the upcoming Talent Quest.

Teachers have been taking part in professional development which includes extending understanding of Inquiry, developing an Adaptive school environment as well as supporting student writing and reading.

QA TALENT QUEST JANUARY 22ND 2014

QA TALENT QUEST JANUARY 22ND 2014

The first QA Talent Quest is part of the school’s aim to promote a sense of community through the House System Competition.  Preparations have already begun and will finish with our first QA Talent Quest Celebration on 22nd January 2014.

To prepare for this, students from each grade have the opportunity to earn house points by auditioning to represent their House.  The House auditions will take place during breaks, lunchtimes and after school over the next few weeks.  Each House will select 2 acts to represent their House from KG – Grade 2 and 2 acts to represent their House from Grades 3 – Grade 5.  The finalists will then perform in the QA Talent Quest Celebration on 22nd January 2014.  More information about attending the QA Talent Quest Celebration will be shared with you nearer the time.

We look forward to you all joining with us to help celebrate our wonderful school community here at Qatar Academy.

School Resumes

Dear Parents,
I trust you all had a wonderful Eid Al Adha break and are now looking forward to school resuming on Monday 21st Oct.
As we now get into full swing, please ensure that you are establishing routines with your children.    You and your child should be aware of expectations regarding: punctuality, school uniform, homework and general behaviour.
I continue to offer my support to you and your child in making your experiences at Qatar Academy as memorable as possible.

Goal Setting

Dear Parents,
This week, you will have the wonderful opportunity of sitting with your child and his/her class teacher to set some goals.  As you play an integral role in the success of your child, it is important to offer support during this time so that your child is able to achieve the goals that have been set.

Your role can range from kind supportive words to creating some defined working space so that homework can be completed free of distractions.  It could be playing maths games so that number knowledge is developed or perhaps some shared reading time together.  Whatever your child sets as his/her goals, I am confident you will continue to guide and nourish both academic and emotional growth.
